Definition
Lilian is a term used to describe a nonbinary person who is a woman or feels a connection to womanhood in some way, even if they're not a woman themself.
It functions as a less gendered alternative for terms like woman-aligned / -adjacent / -identified / -related / -proximal / etc, and a more specific alternative terms like lunarian. It may also overlap with terms like genderera or FEINgender (Female-In-Nature gender).
One's connection to womanhood doesn’t necessarily have to be strong or a major aspect of their gender to be lilian. Someone could be 1% woman(-aligned) and 99% another gender and still be lilian.
A lilian person may be (almost) any specific nonbinary gender, including being masc-aligned and/or experiencing masculine genders. However, it can never include man-aligned genders. Someone who is both man-aligned and woman-aligned would be perian, not lillian. Similarly, someone who's fem-aligned, but not necessarily woman-aligned, would be rosian.
The following is a list of experiences that may fall under the lilian label. Keep in mind that “nonbinary” is an umbrella term that encompasses many different unique experiences and a lilian person may possess some, all, or none of these traits.
- A nonbinary person who is (also) a woman.
- A nonbinary person who's partially, but not fully, a woman (demiwoman, etc)
- A mulitigender person who experiences womanhood simultaneously with or fluidly between their other genders.
- A nonbinary person who has a connection to womanhood, even if they’re not necessarily a woman themself.
- A nonbinary person who feels like their experiences with gender are shared with, similar to, or best compared to those of women.
- A nonbinary person who feels as though they're in the same or a similar "category" as women.
- A nonbinary person who experiences or describes their attraction like a woman (being gay for women, straight for men, and/or wanting to generally be loved by woman-lovers).
- A nonbinary person who interacts with social systems and/or experiences bigotry like a woman.
